Two nights ago the Berlin Crystal Bear prize winner ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW (SHUI YUET SUN TAU) held its celebration. After five days in release in Hong Kong its box office has exceeded 5 million. Because the film received Hong Kong development fund support, film development fund committee vice chair Peter Lam Kin Ngok and chief secretary Fung Wing came in support. They along with director Alex Law Kai Yui, producer Mabel Cheung Yuen Ting, actors Simon Yam Tat Wa, Sandra Ng Kwan Yu, Araif Lee Chi Ting, Evelyn Choi Wing Yan and guest stars Ann Hui On Wa, Joe Cheung Tung Cho, Paul Chun Pui, and Ha Chun Chau celebrated with champagne. Child star Buzz Chung Siu To even received a guitar from Cheung Yuen Ting and "brother" Lee Chi Ting as a gift.

With the film's Berlin Crystal Bear prize and good box office, Cheung Yuen Ting said that she felt surprised and could answer to the boss. Law Kai Yui said that the film's typhoon and mooncake scenes were all crying spots, he too wanted to see the audience response in the cinema. He also revealed that because the film has been a critical and commercial hit, now more investors have approached him with projects. He would like to make the most the story of the first generation of Chinese people in the U.S. Cheung Yuen Ting earlier had a love story about her mother and it has not been used. Thus right now she would like to fulfill this wish the most.

Yam Tat Wa was surprised and happy about the film's good box office. Although he was very satisfied with PUT and ELECTION (HAK SEH WUI) characters, he believed that ECHOES will be his classic. The character would be able to touch him the most and leave a deep impression with Hong Kong, extending Hong Kong's spirit. Thus his "father son price" was worth it. Brother Wa has been nominated for Best Actor at this year's Hong Kong Film Awards with both ECHOES and NIGHT AND FOG (TIN SHUI WAI DIK YEH YU MO), he urged voters to hurry and watch his performance. Although he was worried about splitting the votes, he hoped that the current good box office performance would help. Between the two characters, Brother Wa preferred the ECHO character because he had more emotions and could be related to more. He also said that if this year he could win the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor, he would treat everyone to pineapple buns to celebrate.

When she heard Brother Wa would treat everyone to pineapple buns if he would win Best Actor, Kwan Yu boldly joked, "Then I will treat everyone to a goose leg!" Kwan Yu hoped that the entire on screen family of four would win, but this year with the favorite Wai Ying Hung, Kwan Yu might not be able to win Best Actress. However she said that she was experienced that even if she lost to Sister Siu Hung she would not be upset. Ultimately the award was the icing on the cake. When Kwan Yu won Best Actress she was so happy that she had a wardrobe malfunction. How would she celebrate this time? Kwan Yu joked, "Full nudity, haha, it's so embarrassing. Back then I was young and pretty, showing off a little was no big deal. Now I am up there in age, I don't want the television audience to throw up. No one should bring that photo up again!"
