With the upcoming Hong Kong Film Award, the second round voting has already been completed at the end of March. Reportedly Mainland veteran actor Wang Xueqi and the first Hong Kong Film Award Best Actress Kara Hui (Wai Ying Hung) are the favorites to win.

The 29th Annual Hong Kong Film Award will take place on April 18 at the Cultural Center. The second round election has already been completed. According to reliable sources, the Best Actor will most likely be BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS (SUP YUET WAI SING)'s Wang Xueqi and the Best Actress should be in the grasp of AT THE END OF DAYBREAK (SUM MOR)'s Wai Ying Hung.

The Hong Kong Film Award second round voting ended on March 29. The election procedures have the second round 50 professional adjudicators and the Executive Members of HKFA and members of Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong. This year the 50 professional adjudicators included Gillian Chung Yun Tung, Charlie Yeung Choi Nei, Tin Kai Man, James Yuen Sai Sun and others. Amigo Chu Kin Bong who has been entangled in legal troubles as the Performing Artist Guild representative is also an adjudicator.

Reportedly, although many voted for Simon Yam Tat Wa in the Best Actor category, but because he had two nominations with ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW (SHUI YUET SUN TAU) and NIGHT AND FOG (TIN SHUI WAI DIK YEH YU MO) his votes were split as he was slightly behind BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS' Wang Xueqi.

As for Best Actress, ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW's Sandra Ng Kwan Yu and NIGHT AND FOG's Zhang Jingchu were close to AT THE END OF THE DAYBREAK's Wai Ying Hung in terms of vote counts. Yet Sister Siu Hung with nearly 30 year acting experience ultimately performed slightly better. Best Actress reportedly will be hers. However, due to a few yet to be counted cotes, the results might change!

Wai Ying Hung of course was happy to hear that she was the favorite, but until the award was in her hands it remained up in the air. As for Kwan Yu's decent momentum, she not only supported her but also campaigned for herself. "Kwan Yu is such a good friend, whoever wins I will be happy. Everyone knows where our acting has reached, but my character has a mental disorder and is more difficult. The adjudicators have to decide, the percentage is hard to say." Wai Ying Hung said that this year's Best Actress would be quite meaningful, thus she has begun to adjust her schedule in February in hopes of resting up and appearing in her best!
