The Hong Kong Film Awards takes place tonight, as winners at each category are about to be birth. Earlier, 42 show business people participated in a Oriental Daily poll. Wai Ying Hung and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung became "vote kings" with a lot of industry support. Siu Hung who has been considered the pre race favorite perhaps due to too much pressure felt ill from nerves and needed to rest at home.

The Hong Kong film industry grand event, the 29th Annual Hong Kong Film Awards takes place tonight at the Cultural center. 42 show business people who included Hong Kong Film Award adjudicators, past Best Actors and Best Actresses earlier voted for their favorites. OVERHEARD (SIT TING FUNG WON) edged out BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS with one vote to win Best Picture; Best Director went to OVERHEARD's Alan Mak Siu Fai and Felix Chong Man Keung; Best Actor was OVERHEARD's Lau Ching Wan with yet another
one vote victory over BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS' Wang Xueqi. First Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor Michael Hui Koon Man backed Simon Yam Tat Wa who "looked like the character in the film even when he walked". Although ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW (SHUI YUET SUN TAU) had many industry supporters, due to NIGHT AND FOG (TIN SHUI WAI DIK YEH YU MO) taking away votes from himself, he was not able to win.

Double Happiness For Vicki Zhao

The Best Actress had to be AT THE END OF DAYBREAK (SUM MOR)'s single mother Wai Ying Hung. With 22 votes she became the Best Actress. With his outstanding BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS performance Tse Ting Fung received 29 votes for Best Supporting Actor. Both became this poll's "vote kings". The new mother Vicki Zhao Wei with one vote difference won Best Supporting Actress with RED CLIFF II (CHET BIK KUET JIN TIN HA); child star Buzz Chung Siu To defeated Chris Li Yuchun for Best New Artist. Even great actor and Hong Kong Film Award Best Supporting Actor Liu Kai Chi admired the child star's natural acting.

Pressure Explodes and Leads To Illness

Becoming the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actress favorite, Siu Hung perhaps due to too much pressure yesterday had to see a doctor. She said, "Lately I haven't been feeling well. I have been very tired. I just saw a doctor, originally I wanted to see a Chinese medicine practitioner too, but I was so tired that I didn't want to. All day I will be resting at home and doing Mainland media interviews. At night I have to work on a series." As for this year's Best Actress competition, Siu Hung said, "Zhang Jingchu ran into a good director and is a great actress, but she lost in life experience! Ng Kwan Yu is definitely a good actress, but in AT THE END OF DAYBREAK I wouldn't say I was bad either!"

Siu Hung was of course happy about receiving many industry support, but was worried that everyone's expectation was too high. She was in a balance with the award.
