Fresh out of the oven Hong Kong Film Award Best Director Teddy Chan Tak Sum's mother passed away due to illness. Before her death she once received diagnosis and treatment from the Dongjing Circle Buddhist Society founder Lin Dong. He thus was connected to Lin Dong and actively worked on behalf of his Buddhist Society.

In the past two years Chan Tak Sum due to work and depression worked fewer for the Buddhist Society. This year he again prepared its Saturday vegetarian banquet to raise fund for a Buddhist temple construction in Zhuhai. Chan Tak Sum hoped that the banquet would be able to raise 5 million. Shu Qi and Louis Koo Tin Lok have already agreed to donate, at the same time someone from Singapore donated three Tangsancai, tri-colored glazed pottery, statues for the audition with a starting bid of 2 million.

In addition, the Buddhist society would also help Qinghai victims. Currently Hong Kong artist Lam Man Kit donated three calligraphy work for the audition. Andy Lau Tak Wa, Shu Qi and others have already made starting bids, but the bidding would remain open to the highest bidder. If Wa Jai, Shu Qi and others would not win the bid they would still donate the starting bid amount to charity. Originally he wanted to ask Lau Tak Wa for his calligraphy, but actually Wa Jai before writing needed ample rest to be able to write. Since he is working on SHAOLIN (SUN SIU LUM JI) in the Mainland he turned it down. He was happy to receive the support from many industry insiders. He felt that happiness was not from how much money you made, but from helping people.

Will Chan Tak Sum remake a Shaw costume film? He declined to reveal any detail and event stated that an announcement will be made in Cannes and everyone will be surprised. He said that this big production like BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS (SUP YUET WAI SING) he alone could not master and would invite other directors to help. He said that top directors were willing to help and experience the Hong Kong spirit. Chinese film in order to raise its head again could no longer only clear its own front steps, as everyone must unite to defend. He also would like to work with Zhang Yimou and learn from his expertise.
