The Giddens Ko directed film YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE since its Hong Kong release has been doing gangbusters business at the box office.  As of October 30, after 11 days in release it made HK$28,427,142 and successfully defeated the Lunar New Year film I LOVE HONG KONG (NGOR OI HK HOI SUM MAN SHUI) to become the highest grossing 2D Chinese language film so far this year.  The film also heads toward 3D SEX AND ZEN: EXTREME ECSTASY (3D YUK PO TUEN ji GIK LOK BO GAM)'s over 40 million box office figure.

Yesterday Giddens Ko attended an autograph session for the film's original soundtrack.  He thanked everyone for their support.  When asked why leads Ko Chen-Tung and Michelle Chen did not come to Hong Kong to promote?  He pointed out that Ko Chen-Tung had to go to school and Michelle Chen was working on an ad campaign.  Whoever had time came to Hong Kong.  He admitted that at first he never imagined that the film would have such a great response, the performance made him feel flattered and stunned both leads.

As for the film original soundtrack, it also sold over 10,000 copies already.  He took part in the creation of two songs and thus he would have royalty.  Giddens Ko said, "Making this movie changed me.  At first when I wrote this book I stank.  This film production was the collaboration of many people.  I am very touched to have such a good performance.  Thank you Shen Chia-Yi."  He pointed out that Shen Chia-Yi's family and friends have already seen the film, but she and her husband live in the Mainland so they have not seen it yet.  He has contacted her and hoped to know what she felt about the movie after seeing it.  He also
told her after the film release she might be the target of reporters; but Shen Chia-Yi trusted Giddens Ko would protect her and would not blame him.

[2011.10.31] JUNO MAK FEELS BLESSED NOT TO BE IN RUMORS WITH STEPHY TANG

The 8th Hong Kong Asian Film Festival two nights ago held a marathon screening with five quality films for the audience to watch all in one breath.  Juno Mak Chun Lung two nights ago was the film festival ambassador and cheered on viewers.  Other attendees included Ava Yu Hiu and Rainbow.

Juno said that he rather enjoyed this type of screening marathon because only with such an audience would there be film.  His highest viewing record was seven videos at once.  He said, "At the time I was studying in Canada.  Because in elementary school I didn't have to study much I had time to watch like that."  Juno's new film LET'S GO (BO WAI JIN DUI ji CHOOK DUNG LA! PUNG YAU!) will be this film festival's closing
film.  He said that in the film his co-star was Stephy Tang Lai Yun.  The most special was the production went on without any rumor.  He felt blessed because any rumors would make him feel awkward.  The film used the Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing performed SPACE EMPEROR GOD SIGMA Chinese theme song.  The director originally wanted Juno to perform another version, but he did not because he thought Gor Gor performed too
outstandingly and no one would sing it better.

[2011.10.31] HUANG XIAOMING'S COSTUME LOOK SCARES OTHERS

courtesy of takungpao.com

The Peter Chan Ho Sun produced, Andrew Lau Wai Keung directed THE GUILLOTINES (HUET DIK JI) recently unveiled each actor in costume.  Huang Xiaoming in the film played a "wanderer".  This time Xiaoming had messy hair, with a white robe covering his body he looked like a Greek scripture with teary eyes.  Lau Wai Keung said, "He was dressed like a mad man and a crazed criminal, which hid the most gentle heart inside."

Speaking of his long hair, Xiaoming joked, "When I look at the mirror, isn't this Jesus?"  On the day of costume fitting, Xiaoming pointed at his face and face and made a guarantee to Lau Wai Keung, "As long as I don't shave in three days, it will be here and here."  The director gladly agreed for real facial hair support and gave up the fake beard that would affect facial performance.  Huang Xiaoming tried three different long beards, due to differences in legnth he joked they were Jesus, Marx and bin Laden's beards.  Finally the "Jesus beard" had raves from both Chan Ho Sun and Lau Wai Keung.  Xiaoming also lost eight pounds for the role.  During the period he only had yogurt and cucumber.  He joked that this time he did not need to display his chest but he guaranteed that he was so slim that he had "cleavage".

In order to play the character well, Xiaoming before the shoot thought to drink to release himself.  Yet Chan Ho Sun joked that he had to see how he was after drinking.  If he went mad after drinking a little then he would be in trouble.  However, finally Chan Ho Sun accepted Xiaoming's suggestion.  Xiaoming and Lau Wai Keung often drank together on the set.  After the transformation, Xiaoming was almost in quarantine as often before the shoot he secretly got into the character.  His rage filled eyes even scared the assistant director who showed him his marks.  On several occasions when Lau Wai Keung accepted the take, he was still standing alone in the original spot.

Janice Man Wing Shan yesterday attended a certain well known brand's event and revealed that she has liked this brand since childhood.  She was very happy that this time work was shopping.  However recently she officially began work on the film TURNING POINT EXTREME (LAUGHING GOR ji CHIM JUI FAN), which made her feel very tired.  On the first day she had to work on the heaviest scene.  JM said, "I had to try until I collapsed, which was really tiring.  However in the film I played a female cop.  For this film I watched the entire series.  I was very surprised that I was able to be a part of it."

With Raymond Wong Pak Ming's full support, new comer Karena Ng Chin Yu yesterday along with fellow new Happy Girls Anjaylia Chan Ka Bo, Kelena Poon Kit Ning, Renee Lee Man Ying and Katie Kwok Sin Hung promoted their new film MAGIC TO WIN (HOI SUM MOR FAT).  Chin Yu praised co-star Wu Chun as a suitable boyfriend type.  "On my actual birthday I was promoting in Beijing with Wu Chun.  He was very friendly and very happy, which many girls like.  However I treat him like an older brother, any development is impossible."  She revealed that in the film she had many action scenes.  During a car crash scene she was injured but luckily she only bruised her arms and legs.  Chan Ka Bo praised Chin Yu who was in her first film as hard working and smart, and that the girls at work were filled with joy.

The Michael Tse Tin Wa, Kate Tsui Tsz Shan, Bosco Wong Chung Chak starred television series LIVES OF OMISSION (CHIM HUNG JUI GIK) had both good word of mouth and rating.  The production team decided to make a film version TURNING POINT EXTREME (LAUGHING GOR ji CHIM JUI FAN).  The story would be about Laughing Gor in prison and add new actors like Francis Ng Chun Yu, Chapman To Man Jat, Wai Ying Hung and Janice Man Wing Shan.  Hopefully it will be a box office hit like TURNING POINT (LAUGHING GOR ji Bin Jit) two years ago.

Tse Tin Wa who had to play the character Laughing every year was the favorite to win this year's television Best Actor.  He admitted that his confidence rose.  He said, "This year's performance indeed has been better than previous years, my confidence has been risen as well.  Finally I have a respectable report card to show everyone, but I don't know how to calculate my chances.  As long as the response to the character and the series is great then it's fine."  Tin Wa said that the film story will begin when the television series ended.  Laughing after going to prison met Ng Chun Yu, To Man Jat and others.  He said, "Ultimately the story is complicated.  Chun Yu will play a highly intelligent criminal, I will have many scenes with him."  As for co-star Fala Chen not taking part, Tin Wa admitted it was regrettable.  He said, "Fala's character has already ended, Madame Jo is a character who everyone likes.  Unfortunately she has no way to develop with the story."

Because the Fala Chen played Madame Jo has already passed, the film daringly cast the current Miss Hong Kong Rebecca Zhu who has no acting experience at all.  She admitted that she had to shoulder a lot of pressure and would give her all while hoping to learn from the elders.  Was she afraid that bad takes would affect the progress?  She said, "I would try to rehearse more and hope everyone would understand.  I too
want my first performance to be good."  Rebecca Zhu said that when she received the notice that she would participate in the film, she was particularly excited and pleased.  Would she have any intimate scene with Chun Yu or Tse Tin Wa?  She said that would depend on the script and asked everyone to keep their eyes peeled.  Ng Chun Yu said that he got a raise.  He joked, "Doesn't everyone see the five dollar coin that we are holding?  We really got a raise, Ms. Lok (Elaine Lok Yi Ling) is very generous.  The increase percentage is very high."  After two years ago leading new comer Fala Chen in TURNING POINT, this year Chun Yu also will lead Rebecca Zhu.  Was leading new comers more difficult for him on the set?  He said, "Passing it on from generation to generation, I help when I can.  Everyone has been a new comer one time or another, when I am free I would chat with her more."

Chrissie Chau Sau Na and Jam Hsiao (Siu King Tung) yesterday promoted their new film THE KILLER WHO NEVER KILLS.  They played games with viewers to welcome Halloween and pretended to be killers.  Chau Sau Na said that she would ask her boyfriend Avis to support her new film.  As for the earlier romantic trouble rumors, Chau Sau Na said that she would not refuse to converse with her boyfriend.  She said, "If we
don't speak it would be very tough, I haven't turned mute yet."  Chau Sau Na said that she has not seen her boyfriend in a few days.  Both were busy with work.  Avis' mother recently went to the hospital for eye surgery.  Chau Sau Na said that she did not have time to visit yet.  She said, "I wish her an early recovery, I have had similar minor surgery before."  Chau Sau Na was familiar with Avis' mother.  As for whether she
would like to drink the daughter in law tea, Chau Sau Na said, "We should respect elders, but she rarely asks about that.  She would be concern with our health.  She hasn't urged us to marry but has asked us to buy a home.  We can't rush that and Aunt is an understanding person."  Chau Sau Na said that with the recent property price decline, she was considering ownership.

Siu King Tung received many fan support.  He thanked Hong Kong fans for their passionate support.  This time his new film faced the blockbuster YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE.  Despite the strong competition, Siu King Tung said that he did not have too much pressure.  He said, "No need to compare, I just have to be very relaxed and watch in a simple mood then it's fine."  Siu King Tung hoped to have a chance to work with his idol Jacky Cheung Hok Yau in movies and music.  At the same time he believed that his wish would come true.

Just returning from a film production in the Mainland, Kay Tse On Kay was busy promoting her new record.  Two nights ago at her new record autograph session she discussed going to Beijing and Dunhuang for her new film THE LEGEND OF DUNHUANG, which was also the longest that she has been away from her son.

Tse On Kay said, "This production took three months, although I have come back to Hong Kong during that time I was away from my son for three weeks.  It was the longest in history.  Thus after the production ended and I saw my son the next day after returning to Hong Kong, he looked like he was about to cry with grievances.  I couldn't help but be teary eyed.  When I was shooting on location in Dunhuang, my husband came to visit the set.  The location was really very pretty.  Hopefully in the future we can visit there again as a family."

The Jackie Chan produced, Frankie Chan Fun Kei directed, Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi and Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai) starred film LEGENDARY AMAZONS (YEUNG MOON NUI JEUNG ji GWUN LING YU SAN) will open on November 17.  Pak Chi has already confirmed to attend the November 1 Beijing and 2 Shanghai premiere promotions and conceivably will again become the media focus.

According to the crew, when Pak Chi joined the production she asked for an important condition.  While she could work on fight scenes, she must be kept from pelvic injuries.  Pak Chi said that she still wanted a third child and hoped that the director could prevent her from injury in fight and action scene designs.

courtesy of mingpao.com

The film LET'S GO (BO WAI JIN JUI ji CHOOK DUNG LA! PUNG YAU!) became the 8th Hong Kong Asian Film Festival closing ceremony.  The film will hold its premiere on November 8.  Juno Mak Chun Lung and director Wong Ching Po work together again.  Other actors include Stephy Tang Lai Yun, Lam Ka Tung, Wen Chao and others.  The story recalls the sense of justice in the heart of city dwellers through the collective memory of childhood cartoons.  The film used the Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing performed SPACE EMPEROR GOD SIGMA theme song as its score and animation footage to make people reflect on life and courage that today's society has gradually forgotten.

Wong Ching Po described that this film's theme came from the lyrics of SPACE EMPEROR GOD SIGMA, as the film would turn fighting villains and eradicating bad guys into live action performance. Mak Chun Lung revealed that in childhood he too was an animation fan.  As he grew older, the more burden he had and standing up for justice would be considered dumb and impulsive; he and many actors appeared in the
guardian look to fight against evil and injustice.

Based on popular Taiwan writer Giddens Ko's novel, the film THE KILLER WHO NEVER KILLS two nights ago held its Hong Kong premiere.  Executive producer Tsang Bo Yi, producer Eric Tsang Chi Wai and leads Jam Hsiao (Siu King Tung) and Chrissie Chau Sau Na attended.  Chrissie was 45 minutes late, not only making everyone wait but also postponed the start of the event.  Thus she upset almost a hundred Jam Hsiao fans who were waiting.  They even asked the event not to wait for her and joked that she might have to "fix her chest" before appearing.  When the event started, fans also told Chrissie not to get too close to Jam Hsiao.

Later Chrissie was very sorry about being late and explained that she ran into a traffic jam.  When she arrived she already apologized to Chi Wai and others.

Speaking of Jam Hsiao's fans scolding her, Chrissie said, "I am very sorry.  I am very sorry for making friends who came from far away wait.  I know Siu King Tung likes French Toast so I hope to have time to take him and show him around."  She also said that fans were only protective of their idol, she would not feel that they were impolite.  She also revealed that she too was a Jam Hsiao fan so she was the happiest about meeting him during this film.  She hoped that next time she would have a chance to enjoy his concert.  As for what she wore, she said, "In the film I play a killer, so I have to look destructive.  I would rather be defeated by the person and not by the scheme."

Siu King Tung said that he was very happy to see so many fans who supported him.  He did not know that his fans scolded Chrissie.  As for another Taiwan film YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE's Hong Kong success, would he feel any box office pressure?  He said that he would not think too much about it and only hoped that viewers would enjoy the film in a relaxed mood.

As for Chrissie offering to take him to have French Toast, he admitted that he liked it very much.  Although Taiwan had it too, the flavor was not the same as in Hong Kong.  How did he feel about working with someone with Chrissie's figure?  He pointed out that acting had nothing to do with figure but praised her as a very natural girl.  They had a pleasant collaboration.  Has he seen her picture book?  He admitted that he saw some online and said that in the film she also had sexy performance.

In her new film EAST MEETS WEST 2011 (DUNG SING SAI JAU 2011), Huang Yi had as many as 14 costumes.  She said, "Since I got into the business, it was the first movie in which I had so many costumes.  I was too happy.  I liked to try many things, this time I really had fun."

Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam) two nights ago attended a fashion store opening ceremony with Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Huang Xiaoming, Edmond Leung Hong Man and others.

Huang Xiaoming stated that he was busy with Peter Chan Ho Sun's new film THE GUILLOTINES (HUET DIK JI).  Speaking of he and rumored girlfriend Angelababy appearing at a Mainland airport, Huang Xiaoming changed the subject when asked whether Baby was visiting him on the set.  "Do you have another question?  This year I already made seven movies.  I work very hard and hope to focus on my movies."  When asked whether he was so busy that he had no time to date, Huang Xiaoming said that he did not have time to see even his parents.  "After THE GUILLOTINES I have to make another new film, a love story in the 60s.  The cast will have good actors from the Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan.  I look forward to it very much."

The Yeung Chin Wa, Eva Huang Shengyi and Donnie Yen Chi Tan starred new film PIK LIK SUN TAM (THUNDER COP) was rumored to be postponed due to Huang Shengyi's pregnancy.  Chin Wa admitted that the production date has been delayed to early next year, but she did not know whether it was due to Huang Shengyi.  She said, "I very much look forward to working with Yen Chi Tan, so I am a little sorry.  However next month I have my concert, now by change I can have more time to rest and recover."  As for whether the new film production schedule change would affect her parenthood plan, she joked that it would depend on whether she was destined to continue the production.

[2011.10.28] GUILLOTINES UNVEIL COSTUMES

courtesy of singtao.com

The Peter Chan Ho Sun produced, Andrew Lau Wai Keung directed film THE GUILLOTINES (HUET DIK JI) has already begun production.  Each actor's costume look appeared for the first time.  Captain Ethan Juan (Yuen King Tin) was responsible for "cold", the only "female Guillotine" Chris Lee Yuchun was responsible for "real", Jing Boran was responsible was "handsome", Purba Rgyal (Pubajia) was responsible for "vicious", Zhou Yiwei "grinned like a cat with a canary" and was responsible for "shady" but the weapon Flying Guillotine was nowhere to be seen.

The Guillotine uniform was in classic red and black, the left arm was made with steel, wrapped up from the shoulder to the fist and leather underneath it resembled a cannon.  With 230 steel rings and 168 steel plates, it weighted 10 catties.  Yuen King Tin posed in the uniform.  After putting on the metal arm he even joked that he was Iron Man.  The uniform was designed with the right arm for the weapon and the left hand for the metal arm, but Siu Tin was left armed so he had to train his right arm strength.  Lau Wai Keung after finding out thought the lefty would be very cool and designed a "lefty" metal arm for him.

Lee Yuchun after BOYDGUARDS AND ASSASSINS (SUP YUET WAI SING) worked with Chan Ho Sun again.  The first thing Chan Ho Sun said when he saw Lee Yuchun was, "How can you grow younger and younger?  You look like you are only 16."  This time Lee Yuchun had to cut her hair short.  In order to ensure that her hair would be comfortable and steady, she spent three hours on hair the first time.  Aside from shaving their heads, male Guillotines also had to grow facial hair.  Yuen King Tin, Zhou Yiwei, Purba Rgyal were happy about saving shaving time.  Only Jing Boran due to his red lips and white teeth did not have to grow facial hair.

The film HONG KONG GHOST STORIES (MANG GWAI OI CHING GOO SI) two nights ago held a premiere.  Attendees included Chrissie Chau Sau Na, Jeana Ho Pui Yu, Charmaine Fong Ho man and pseudo model Mia.  With all the low cut ladies, Chau Sau Na helplessly lost a battle.  However she
still insisted that she was confident.

Chau Sau Na with the film BEACH SPIKE (YIT LONG KAU OI JIN) won a Chicago Best Actress award.  She admitted that this was her first film award and was greatly encouraged.  She hoped to be able to win Hong Kong and Asian awards in the future and that viewers would see her movies because of her.  Would she stop being sexy because of her Best Actress status?  She said that she has only joined the film industry for two years, she could try many characters.

Jeana in the film played a paper doll with a 38H top measurement.  In order to make her chest stand out she added six pads on each side during the shoot.  She joked that this experience was research for next year's breast enhancement and would share this experience with the doctor.  She was afraid that this measurement would be too much for her back.  Earlier a woman lost her life from breast enhancement.  She insisted on getting one, but would choose a team that she would trust.

The film DWELLING IN THE FUCHUN MOUNTAINS yesterday held a production start ceremony at one of the ten spots in West Lake, Hengzhou, Pinhuqiu.  Attendees included Andy Lau Tak Wa, Lin Chiling, Zhang Jingchu, and Tong Dawei.  This film would be similar to a 007 treasure hunt story.  Later it will shoot in Hengzhou, Taipei, Tokyo, Milan, Dubai and other locations.

The actors yesterday rode dragon shaped boats on West Lake.  Fans filled the lakeside.  When Wa Jai, Lin Chiling and others arrived, cheers rose.  Wa Jai and other actors waved to everyone form the boat.  Phoenix Satellite boss Liu Changle, China Film Group boss Han Sanping, Media Asia Entertainment executive John Chong Ching and others yesterday also attended the ceremony.  Han Sanping pointed out that this film's male lead had to be Wa Jai.  Because of Wa Jai, the production waited until this year.

Speaking of playing the "Eastern 007" this time, Wa Jai joked that he too wanted to become 007 but would depend on how the director shot it.  Tong Dawei this time played a villain and he was very happy to be able to work with Wa Jai.  To him it was a dream.  Lin Chiling in the film would appear with various costumes.  Zhang Jingchu's right arm was bruised.  She said that this character was very different.  The director joked that after making this film, no one would dare to want her because her character was.  Did Wa Jai have to fight?  He joked that he was a substance actor so he did not have to fight.  People laughed and Wa Jai immediately joked, "Don't mock me."

Wa Jai pointed out that in the film he and his girlfriend broke up and got back together, just like the painting DWELLING IN THE FUCHUN MOUNTAINS.  Was Lin Chiling or Zhang Jingchu his girlfriend?  He joked htat of course she would not be so tall.  Chiling joked that she would be eliminated because of her height.  Wa Jai joked, "That's right, who told me to be so short."  Yet reportedly Lin Chiling was Wa Jai's wife, after breaking up he was with Zhang Jingchu.

[2011.10.27] LOUIS KOO FIGHTS ANIMALS IN NEW FILM?

courtesy of on.cc

Louis Koo Tin Lok attended an event.  The leg injury that has halted his work schedule earlier has almost healed.  He will officially start making movies.  He said that comedy should be no problem.  Because his character will be a construction worker, he will have some heavy labor that he will have to careful with.  Although he will not have too many action scenes, he will have two fights with animals.  While he could not reveal what animals they will be, he believed that women would be afraid when they saw them.

Before the New Year Goo Jai had to work on two films, a Lunar New Year film and a Mainland production.  Some said that this year Hong Kong would be particularly cold.  Goo Jai said that heat pads were necessities.  "Earlier when I worked on a movie in Shangri-La, it was truly cold beyond description.  Sometimes I was waiting all night, it really was very cold."

Two Best Actors Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Tony Leung Ka Fai starred new film COLD WAR (HONG JIN) yesterday held a press conference.  Yesterday was Sing Sing's birthday and the event arranged for a plane shaped cake to celebrate with him.  Sing Sing revealed that he would meet 20 friends for dinner and admitted that rumored girlfriend Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam) would attend.

Kwok Fu Sing, Leung Ka Fai, Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting), Eddie Peng Yu-yen, Chin Kar Lok and Lam Ka Tung introduced their characters.  Ka Fai said that the last time he worked with Sing Sing was THROW DOWN (YAU DOH LUNG FU BONG) years ago.  He thought that his acting was more and more stable and mature.  How will Sing Sing celebrate his birthday?  He said, "Probably dinner, with around 20 friends.  (Was Hung Doi Lam invited?)  I invited her, she should be in Hong Kong."  Speaking of Hung Doi Lam stating that she had a headache from preparing a birthday gift, he said, "Many friends all say that, actually I am already very happy about good friends having the time to meet.  It's fortune."  Sing Sing thanked his friends for already planning the celebration months ago because he could not promise to attend.  He said, "Friends said they didn't care if I couldn't come.  For example Shum Ka Wai deliberately came back from Beijing.  This birthday could be considered unexpected because I always thought I would have to work.  Luckily the team won't have a notice until tomorrow night so I have more time."

In the film playing a rival character opposite Leung Ka Fai, Sing Sing said that it will be an exciting film that battles wits, courage and ruthlessness.  He hoped to be able to create another classic after INFERNAL AFFAIRS (MO GAN DOH).  Sing Sing also said that earlier they shot a major explosion scene that used three hydrogen bombs to create a giant fire ball.  Although the effect was dangerous but the actors on the set
were very safe.  Has Hung Doi Lam visited the set?  Sing Sing said, "I don't like friends visiting the set, I am afraid that work would be affected.  People who understand me know that I focus on work.  Even manager Siu Mei rarely appears."  As for Andy Lau Tak Wa, he had a part but did not appear yesterday.  The press release did not mention Wa Jai's name.  Sing Sing said, "For now I have to keep it confidential, Wa Jai plays a very important character.  My scenes with him earlier have already been completed."

Sing Sing joked that he grew up watching his performance, Leung Ka Fai did not mind.  "He probably saw my commercials.  In my growth process I made many commercials, if I have to count it would take awhile."
Ka Fai praised that Sing Sing's acting now has become more and more mature and called him "Heavenly King Best Actor".  Will he attend Sing Sing's birthday dinner?  He said, "When will he have time to eat with us?"  Did he feel Sing Sing and Hung Doi Lam make a good couple?  Ka Fai said, "You can tell from how solid Lynn's acting is, turning from a model to an actress.  If they are truly boyfriend and girlfriend, privately they must have very deep exchanges."
