[2013.01.03] LES MISERABLES TOPS NEW YEAR'S DAY BOX OFFICE

With the New Year holiday coming to an end, foreign film and animation defeated Chinese films. The New Year's Day single day box office top three were LES MISERABLES with HK$1.93 million, WRECK-IT RALPH with 1.35 million and THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY with 920,000. Jackie Chan's CZ12 (SUP YI SUN CHIU) came in 4th with 660,000. The Huang Xiaoming, Shawn Yue Man Lok and Ethan Juan (Yuen King Tin) starred THE GUILLOTINES (HUET DIK JI) gave an only average performance with 270,000. The film as of January 1 after 6 days in release accumulated only 2 million at the box office.

CZ12 as of January 1 after 13 days in release had almost 10 million at the cumulative box office. Released on the same day, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 2 and WRECK-IT RALPH had 17.93 million and 16.75 million respectively.

The Chow Yun Fat and Huang Xiaoming starred THE LAST TYCOON (DAI SEUNG HO) today joins the fray, who knows how much Fat Gor's charm will bring into the box office.

The Tony Leung Chiu Wai starred, 10 years in production Wong Kar Wai film THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI) has been scheduled for a January 10 Hong Kong release and a January 8 Mainland release. Wai Jai will appeared with Zhang Ziyi, Chang Chen and other actors on January 8 at the Tsim Sha Tsui iSquare cinema for the premiere. The film will be 130 minutes long.
