Ivana Wong Yuen Chi reportedly turned down the role of Cherie and enabled Miriam Yeung Chin Wa to win Best Actress. Yesterday she admitted that she met with director Pang Ho Cheung, but she had vocal cord issues at the time and lost her voice severely. She even had a problem with singing and could not control her voice at all, which made her very down. She learned from reading the script that "Cherie" was a smoker and a very avid one at that, due to the sensitivity to her vocal cord at the time and the doctor urging her to properly maintain it, she could not make the film even if she wanted to. However, she had no regret because Chin Wa and Shawn Yue Man Lok were too compatible and complementary. She was very happy for Chin Wa's Best Actress victory and hoped to have a chance to work with Director Pang. The best would be able to act with Chin Wa and Yue Man Lok.
