The film CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON (NGOR FU CHONG LUNG) sequel has been confirmed to start production in March 2014. The Ang Lee directed, Chow Yun Fat, Michelle Yeoh (Yeung Chi King), Chang Chen and Zhang Ziyi started 2000 film CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON won 4 Oscars including Best Foreign Film. Weinstein Co. yesterday announced that next year its sequel will start production. The director will not be Ang Lee but famous action director Yuen Woo Ping, only Yeung Chi King remained from the original cast and the lead actor will be Donnie Yen Chi Tan.

Harvey Weinsten said in the statement that he liked Ang Lee's movies very much but believed that the sequel will be just as outstanding in the hands of Yuen Woo Ping. CROUCHING TIGER sequel will be based on the Wang Dulu's CRANE IRON SERIES' final book IRON KNIGHT, SILVER VASE. The story will mainly be about Yu Jiao Long's and Luo Xiaohu's descendant. Yeung Chi King in CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAOGN played Yu Shu Lien and will continue to play the character in the sequel. Yen Chi Tan's character has not been revealed yet. Yuen Woo Ping, Yen Chi Tan and the company will announce the details of the film at a Cannes Film Festival press conference today.

CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON made US$128 million at the North American box office and US$213 million globally to become the highest grossing foreign film in North American film history.
