Eric Tsang Chi Wai yesterday attended the 56th Asia Pacific Film Festival press conference. The event will take place in Macau on December 15. Chi Tan as the planning committee chair attended the press conference and the launch ceremony. This year's jury chair will be Shi Nan Sun and Sylvia Chang (Cheung Ngai Ga) will be a member.

As for the government not issuing Ricky Wong Wai Kay's HKTV a free television license, Tsang Chi Wai said that the television industry has begun a second journey now -- a warring nation era with as much as chaos as seven kingdoms. Yet positive competition could elevate television quality. However, he felt Wong Wai Kay's instant downsizing of over 300 people was a little rushed. He said, "When Mr. Wong hired people he already planned what to do if he would not get the license. Since so many people supported him, he could not downsize because of the license. TVB could also say that it would downsize if a license was issued. Television professionals should not be bargaining chips in negotiations."

Meanwhile, the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers chair Ng See Yuen and the Film Directors' Guild chair Derek Yee Tung Sing expressed that they will issue a statement Saturday to support Hong Kong Television. Ng See Yuen said that currently the Federation and its ten major affiliated organizations including the Directors' Guild, the Performing Artist Guild, the Society of Cinematography and others will attend.
