May 30th was Raymond Wong Pak Ming and his wife's 44th wedding anniversary. Wong Pak Ming that day had to work in Chongqing. Mrs. Wong not only did not mind but also went with her husband. Speaking of their 44 years of marriage, he pointed out that everyone had to trust each other. Speaking of the numerous temptations in show business, how did he resist them as a film company boss? He said, "Actually every industry has different temptations. The most important is how you face them." As for their most memorable moment, he admitted that when he learned that she had cancer it was really hard to take. The most memorable was fighting cancer with her. Luckily everything is now in the past.

On their 44th wedding anniversary, Wong Pak Ming and Janelle Sing Kwan had to work in Chongqing. He dedicated a song to his wife. Sing Kwan also sang I BELIEVE and LOVE ME. She said that the boss and his wife were very loving and she was very envious. Mrs. Wong also did not mind that her husband had to work because she was already used to her husband flying all over. She would gladly follow him too.

On this Chongqing trip, Wong Pak Ming hoped to develop Mainland cinema businesses. Chongqing was larger and was one of China's future development city in focus. He said, "This year we already have our first cinema in Hong Kong, so we want to see if we can develop a cinema business in the Mainland." Pegasus Motion Pictures earlier already revealed that it would invest HK$1 billion and work with an U.S. film company on a science fiction film. He revealed that aside from the upcoming release THE Z STORM (Z FUNG BO), even more high quality films will be on the way. They will include the Karena Ng Chin Yu starred romance WONG KA YUN and the Donnie Yen Chi Tan starred IP MAN 3.

Cherie Chung Chor Hung and Hu Jun last night attended a fashion store opening. Speaking of her film ONCE A THIEF (JUNG WAN SEI HOI) as Hu Jun's favorite and his hope to work together, Hung Goo said, "I would consider it because he is a good actor!"

Hung Goo earlier was caught taking photos with a HK$200,000 camera. Actually she was busy with her charity photo exhibit. "The equipment is from the sponsor, I didn't have to spend money. Chow Yun Fat is very high class, he wouldn't share photography tips with me. However I too want to take photography hikes to lose weight." She said that the camera with the most special value to her was a special edition from her husband Chu Ka Ting. Did Chu Ka Ting give the camera to court her? Hung Goo joked, "I don't need to be chased."

Karena Lam Ka Yun due to the film COMA (GAU MING) became friends with Angelica Lee Sinjie. She joked, "I know what you want to ask, I won't talk about my friend's love life. I have contacted Lee Sinjie to let her know that we love her very much. She said that she is handling and facing it." Lam Ka Yun's husband Yuen Kim Wai is also a director. Would he be particularly tempted? Lam Ka Yun said, "It has nothing to with being a director or not, the most important in a relationship is more communication." She would not be a "trailing wife" and keep an eye on her husband because a couple was about trust.

[2014.05.31] ZHANG ZIYI: THE NEXT STORY IS THE BEST

courtesy of mingpao.com

Zhang Ziyi recently accepted a Mainland magazine interview. She mentioned that her life was not smooth sailing at all. She experienced many rises and falls in life and she came out of the hard times. Zhang Ziyi felt that the so-called depression made her shake off her greenness at the time. Because her film CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON won the Best Foreign Film Oscar, she was able to reach international status. Then she ran into setbacks.

Zhang Ziyi with THE GRANDMASTER (YUT DOI JUNG SI) won 11 Best Actress awards, which she admitted was no easy task. "This film took about 3 years to make. For an actress, 3 years are very valuable time. However I only spent it on my character Gong Er, so I had time to communicate with Gong Er and created the impossible for myself." Zhang Ziyi wanted to challenge more characters. She would not give herself any symbol like a representative film, because every film recorded her condition at the time she would not have a "best period". She deeply believed that her next story would always be the best.

Eddie Cheung Siu Fai with the film TWILIGHT ONLINE (HUNG BO JOI SIN) won the Leading Actor award at the Indie Fest in San Diego. The film also won Feature Film and Leading Actress. Co-star Susan Shaw Yam Yam yesterday appeared on an ATV program said that she was happy for Cheung Siu Fai. Shaw Yam Yam said, "I have always felt that he is very handsome, his acting is good too but he never has a chance at a nomination. This time he won Best Actor, I have to congratulate him!" She joked that the awards will be helpful to the film's box office, but she was also very lucky!

[2014.05.31] UNIVERSE ISSUES STATEMENT: STILL ELANNE KONG'S MANAGER

Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam earlier was revealed to have asked for an early contract termination with Universe and complained that her income during her 10 years with Universe was low. Universe boss Daneil Lam Siu Ming responded that they would not terminate the contract and claimed that Kong Yeuk Lam was trying to get sympathy. Kong Yeuk Lam and Universe's contract already came to term in early May. Universe has not signed a new contract with Kong Yeuk Lam. Some pointed out that Lam Siu Ming decided to release Kong Yeuk Lam.

Yet yesterday Universe again issued a statement, saying that Universe was still Kong Yeuk Lam's only, sole and exclusive manager for all rights around the world. It had the right to represent Ms. Kong's global performing art career and sign all related agreements and contracts. The statement even said that Universe artist management has already obtained legal consultation and would take all suitable legal action to ensure the benefit of the company. Seemingly Kong Yeuk Lam's contract issue has not yet been resolved.

Kong Yuek Lam also responded, "Thank you everyone for your concern. I can only say that my 10 year term contract with Universe artist management has already ended on May 2nd. They issued me a 5 year new contract for extension. I have not signed it. As for the 'exclusive contract extension right', I have already given my written notice of refusal according to the stipulations on the contract a month before the contract ended. I absolutely respect Hong Kong laws and spirit of the contract. Even with a difference of opinions on the contract interpretations, last month I have already written to Universe with settlement suggestions in hopes of finding a complete resolution. Yet so far I still have not received any reply. As of now, I can only go with the flow. I would peacefully face everything as usual. After 10 years of being 'Kong Yeuk Lam' I have fulfilled a dream. I feel grateful and satisfied. Thank you!"

[2014.05.30] JAMES HUNG RELIES ON RONALD CHENG FOR WORD OF MOUTH

Due to financial restricts, James Hung has to use his mind to control his budget
THE SEVENTH LIE stars Ronald Cheng and Carl Ng

courtesy of on.cc

New Hong Kong director James Hung (Kung Ling Ching)'s directing debut THE SEVENTH LIE was a suspense film with the usually comedic Ronald Cheng Chung Kei. James earlier took the film to Los Angeles for a screening and to Cannes for sales. He received a lot of good reviews. In the future months he will continue to attend film festivals.

Kung Ling Ching in 2009 returned to Hong Kong after finishing his film study in the U.S. Because the Hong Kong film industry was not advantageous for unknown new director to break out, James spent four years to be able to fulfill his directing dream. With his first film THE SEVENTH LIE he received assistance from elders, he was able to invite Cheng Chung Kei, Carl Ng Ka Lung and Philip Keung Ho Man to star. In the end the overseas promotion received a lot of good reviews.

James said, "I took the script to look for experienced filmmakers, I looked for producers, executive producers myself until I found Tin Kai Man. He said that he really liked the script and gave me a lot of opinions. He also helped me look for the cast and the crew. Luckily I had help with elders who were willing to give new directors a try, this film was finally made."

In the end although he received the Hong Kong Film Development Fund, the amount was limited. James said, "Every amount was very limited. I forced myself to use my brain to control the cost, it was hard! The film even had busy city and night scenes, thus I gave up on the film production cameras and used a lighter camera instead. At first I questioned the machine's capabilities, but with all the people in Causeway Bay, the camera performed very well."

As for the pressure that a new director faced, James said, "Pressure kept flooding in. Under a limited environment I had to think of ways to adjust. I am very appreciative that the crew was willing to give me the chance to try. (Did the fund aside from giving money provide any other assistance?) They were responsible for the financing, contact wise I had other departments' assistance. (Did you run into distribution difficulty?) It has been scheduled for an October release. In June, July, and August I will keep participating in film festivals. The environment that new comers face is difficult, but I can't wait for people to recognize me. I believe in the concept so I must adhere to it!"

Oxide Pang's secret affair with pseudo model Liddy Li Yui Tung, Lee Sinjie faced with her husband's marital betrayal was exhausted. Yesterday someone posted photos Angelica Lee Sinjie at a hospital. Her right arm had I-V marks and she looked very weary and tired. After 4 days, Lee Sinjie looked like a completely different person from her earlier running photos.

Although Pang Shun went to the hospital with his wife, he sat alone in a corner and kept staring at his phone. Some questioned if he was truly worried about his wife and blamed him for upsetting Lee Sinjie to the point of sickness.

Around 11AM, someone post two photos on a Malaysian Chinese forum and revealed that a friend on the 28th went to a private hospital and ran into Lee Sinjie and her husband Pang Shun. In the photo Pang Shun only looked at his phone and looked obviously indifferent. Lee Sinjie was with friend and family, she looked exhausted.

Lee Sinjie and Pang Shun sat apart. Her right arm even had I-V mark. She looked fragile and listless, but Pang Shun did not attentively take care of her and instead sat by himself while looking at his phone. Two days ago was when Lee Sinjie and Pang Shun issued a joint statement. Lee Sinjie not only had to face her illness but also her heartbreak. In the statement she protected her unfaithful husband at every turn, stating that she would face it with Pang Shun and would peacefully continue on. Obviously she hoped to give him a chance. Yet Pang Shun's performance truly was not that of a fitting husband. No wonder people online had to blame him for not apologize to his wife before Pang Shun issued another statement to apologize.

People online were shocked to see Lee Sinjie's weary look and even blamed Pang Shun for not feeling guilty at all. They urged Lee Sinjie not to give him a chance to change.

Eddie Cheung Siu Fai has been in show business for over 30 years and won his first film Best Actor. He with the film TWILIGHT ONLINE (HUNG BO JOI SI) won Leading Actor in the San Diego independent film festival The Indie Fest. The film also won Leading Actress and Best Film Feature.

Cheung Siu Fai two days ago received the good news while working on Johnnie To Kei Fung's film in Guangzhou. He was surprised and very happy. With numerous Best Supporting Actor nominations in the past, this time he won Leading Actor, which to him was a great encouragement. He also said that TWILIGHT ONLINE has not been released yet and already it won three awards overseas, proving that Hong Kong film still got attention. Cheung Siu Fai said that he put an effort into his performance. He hoped that it would receive the audience's support during its release. The film company would celebrate upon the award arrived in Hong Kong and the film is scheduled for a September release.

TWILIGHT ONLINE was a To Yuk Ching directed small budget production. Other than Cheung Siu Fai, Babyjohn Choi Hong Yik and Lawrence Chou Chun Wai also performed. The leading actress was Mainland actress Li Zichen.

courtesy of mingpao.com

Sean Lau Ching Wan, Alex Fong Chung Shun and Gordon Lam Ka Tung promoted OVERHEARD 3 (SIT TING FUNG WON 3). Ching Wan said that in the film they along with Dominic Lam Ka Wa and Louis Koo Tin Lok were originally on the same line to defend their walled village homes. Later because developers planned to develop their land, they felt that working on their own would be more suitable and in the end they each fought to benefit themselves. The story revolved around Hong Kong real estate, high prices, high land value and other problem development. Ching Wan pointed out that OVERHEARD's subject was interesting, but the goal was not to air grievances of the little people. He pointed out that OVERHEARD in the end wanted to express that Hong Kong people worked hard to live, but before the world advanced fast and the society developed rapidly the people could not stop them. In the end they lost a lot of important things and ended up with a sad ending.

Although the subject was sensitive, Ching Wan said that the characters were not reflections of anyone. Ching Wan said, "The story was attractive, Koo Tin Lok originally was my friend. Later he took the wrong path. Ng Yin Cho (Daniel Wu) played a surveillance expert." Fong Chung Shun in the film had the most outstanding costume. Fong Chung Shun said, "My costume resembled the Beatles. I always wanted such a look. Some couldn't even recognize me. I always wanted to leave my hair this long, but I don't have enough time. In the wig I am still pretty happy." Lam Ka Tung said that in the film the five brothers all had their own ideas and took what they needed. "The five aside for money also fought over love."

Ching Wan said that Zhou Xun, Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen) were added as adjustment between the men. Did he feel always working on men films to be monotonous? Ching Wan joked, "Yes, I am always teaming with Koo Tin Lok! Hahaha! However every time I work with different directors and teams. Men film productions are relaxed and fun, unlike talking to girls when I can't be loud." Lam Ka Tung agreed with discovering more actresses. "I want to work with new faces, Hong Kong indeed doesn't have many actresses."

Ching Wan hoped to make more optimistic and light films for the audience to have more choices. He said, "People can relax a little instead of too many deaths. Because the society already has many unhappy news, I don't want too many sad and tragic films. Can characters not die? Give them a chance to live! OVERHEARD 3 is very heavy, in the end everyone is heartbroken."

courtesy of mingpao.com

Best Actress Angelica Lee Sinjie is faced with her husband Oxide Pang Shun's secret affair with pseudo model Liddy Li Yui Tung, as their originally happy family began to crack. Lee Sinjie finally broke 4 days of silence yesterday and issued a joint statement online with Pang Shun. She mentioned that currently she is very sad and even stated that she and Pang Shun will face it together. "The future is unknown, but we will peacefully listen to our hearts and keep going." Lee Sinjie because of deep love again accepted this man who has once saved her, hurt her and betrayed her. Pang Shun at night also issued a "cannot forgive my own mistake" statement, deeply feeling that his mistake was too much and he could not face his wife.

When the affair broke, Pang Shun immediately flew to Malaysia to apologize to Lee Sinjie. At first Lee Sinjie declined to see him after the severe impact, but for days Pang Shun refused to leave Lee Sinjie's residence half a step and again clearly admitted his guilt. He also cut ties with Lee Yui Tung and even guaranteed that he would never make the mistake again. He only wanted to keep the family whole. Although Lee Sinjie could not stand her husband's infidelity, but because she loved him too much. With friends and elders' guidance she agreed to be in a cooling period with him. The future will depend on whether they could continue on.

Lee Sinjie suggested a joint statement with Pang Shun to stop the continuing coverage outside and due to concerns that she would think irrationally from many friends who were unable to contact Lee Sinjie. After the explanation she would be able to truly calmly consider whether this marriage has any future. In the statement they wrote, "A 12 year relationship cannot be explain in a few words. We finally gradually learn that marriage is not just the union of a prince and a princess then a carefree happily ever after. We sat to face right and wrong, joy and pain, past and future......yes, right now I am definitely very sad, sad because I have love. If I don't have love perhaps it can be easily handled. Like many couples, many marriages run into setbacks and experience tests. I am very sorry to worry and upset people who love us, and I also thank you for giving us space and concern. We will face it together. The future is unknown, but we would peacefully listen to our hearts and continue on. Let time to tell us the answer. Grateful, Pang Shun, Lee Sinjie"

Lee Sinjie and director Pang Shun have been together for 12 years from falling in love to marriage. They wed in 2010. She even treated his daughter with his former wife Yun Yun as her own, playing the role of a gentle wife and kind mother in life. Yet after only 4 years, Pang Shun already had an affair. She chose to forgive this mainly to give her husband some dignity. They almost issued the joint statement at the same time online. The statement was mixed in both traditional and simplified characters. Lee Sinjie was used to simplified characters while Pang Shun used traditional. The press release was obviously from them both. However, Pang Shun did not mention any guilty to his wife and family. He did not outright say that he would end the affair either. Thus he faced outside criticism and felt that he was not sincere enough. Some even worried about how easily Lee Sinjie forgave her husband.

As everyone questioned Pang Shun for not apologizing at all, around 10PM last night he issued another statement. "In the afternoon statement, no one was able to find the word sorry and felt that I still did not feel guilty. Do you know how difficult it is to write or say that word? Only I feel that this mistake of mine cannot be forgiven with just sorry, because I was thoroughly wrong. The mistake that I have made also thoroughly hurt someone who has always given me a lot and gave heartaches and disappointments to many who love her. I truly accept the blame that everyone has for me, because this mistake of mine is not worth being forgiven for. Even I cannot forgive myself...sorry..."

When Pang Shun was caught with pseudo model Lee Yui Tung in an intimate setting on the 23rd, Lee Sinjie was celebrating her friend Charlie Yeung Choi Nei's birthday and chatted until late night. Reportedly Yeung Choi Nei, Gigi Leung Wing Kei and Valen Hsu (Hui Yu Wan) were worried about Lee Sinjing handling this alone, but they understood that they must give her calm to handle it. Thus they were only backing her up and agreed not to comment outside.

This is how he learns the truth about her youth working as a housemaid and nanny for the Hirai family in a little house in Tokyo with a red gabled roof. Masaki is both head of the house and head of department at a toy factory. Their housemaid remains loyal to Tokiko and devotedly takes care of the family. However, growing increasingly aware of the furtive love affair that is developing, she is eventually forced to make a heartrending decision.

Veteran director Yamada Yoji’s 82nd film, but his first romance. Set in a picturesque, 1920s suburban Tokyo, the story unfolds the triangles that reshape the lives of Masaki, a factory employee, his wife Tokiko and their son, Kyoichi, through the arrival of a friend, and the growing winds of war. As we reconstruct these events six decades later through the notebooks of Taki, their household maid, it becomes clear that another narrator triangulated the story in a very different fashion.   The sleepy fishing town of Aberdeen was where the British landed to take Hong Kong, hence its Chinese name: “Little Hong Kong”. Likewise, the Cheng family embodies a microcosm of our city, with its contradictions between modernity and traditions, family and individuality. Aberdeen is at once intimate and sprawling, revealing uniquely troubled characters, from the eldest, the Taoist priest patriarch Dong, to the youngest, the bullied elementary schooler Chloe. Pang mixes his signature humor with the fantastical, incorporating dreams, the supernatural and other surprises to distinguish this star-studded film from ordinary family drama.

Aaron Kwok Fu Sing has worked with director Oxide Pang Shun many times. When Pang Shun wed Angelica Lee Sinjie in Malaysia, Sing Sing was the best man. As for his friend Pang Shuns' recent affair, Sing Sing urged his friend to face and accept responsibilities. Last night Sing Sing attended an Audi new car press conference. He said that he just completed the film THE MONK (DOH SI HA SAN)'s shoot in the Mainland. When reporters asked him about Pang Shun's affair, Sing Sing's response was heavy. He said that he felt uneasy when he saw the report and did not want to read it.

Sing Sing said, "I hope Ah Shun would face and accept the responsibility. I as friend hope he would be able to get past this." Should Lee Sinjie forgive Pang Shun? Sing Sing hoped that Ah Shun would do what he should do to make up for it. He did not call Pang Shun, and believed that during this period he needed time to calm down. Sing Sing said that he was not certain about Pang Shun and Sinjie's marital problem, only they would know. Was he surprised to see the report? He said, "My heart felt a little uneasy."
