[2014.09.17] THE GOLDEN ERA WILL REPRESENT HONG KONG FOR BEST FOREIGN FILM OSCAR CONSIDERATION

The Ann Hui On Wa directed, Tang Wei and Feng Shaofeng starred film THE GOLDEN ERA will represent Hong Kong to compete for the Best Foreign Film Oscar nomination. The Hong Kong Motion Picture Industry Association board of directors according to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences provided film selection standards decided to recommend THE GOLDEN ERA to represent Hong Kong for the 87th Oscar Best Foreign Film nomination consideration. The final nominations will be announced early next year. Aside from THE GOLDEN ERA, films that received support from the review committee members included RIGOR MORTIS (GEUNG SI), ABERDEEN (HEUNG GONG JAI), OVERHEARD 3 (SIT TING FUNG WON 3) and THE MIDNIGHT AFTER (NA YEH LING SUN, NGOR JOR SEUNG LIU WONG GOK HOI WONG DAI PO DIK HUNG VAN). THE GOLDEN ERA in the end received the most votes.

Last night THE GOLDEN ERA held a charity premiere to raise fund for the Lang Lang Foundation. Director Hui On Wa, screen writer Li Qiang, lead actor Feng Shaofeng and foundation founder Michelle Ong Yau Lun attended. Other guests included the "Lang Lang youth ambassador" Eason Chan Yik Shun, Pak Suet Sin, Connie Chan Bo Chu, Mui Suet Sze, George Lam Tsz Cheung and Alex Lam Tak Shun. Hui On Wa said that when she received the news two days ago she was very happy and honored. Did she inform Tang Wei of the good news? She said that the distribution company did, but she hoped to have a chance to dine with everyone later. She will have to promote in Beijing and Busan.

Feng Shaofeng also said that he was very happy. As a part of this film he was very proud and honored. Would he like to step on the Oscars red carpet? He said, "Of course I do! It's a chance to be recognized. (Are you confident about the nomination?) This is the film that I am the proudest of in my film career. With all the creators' effort, I too hope that this film will have good return and results." He also said that the director and Li Qiang were filmmakers he admired very much, this chance to work with them was very rare. He participated in this film to learn and he gained a lot. Did his girlfriend Ni Ni come to Hong Kong with him? He said that she did not. If nominated would they go to the U.S. together? He said, "Take her on vacation? We both like to travel, with the chance I would like to go." Tang Wei last night was in Hangzhou, accompanying her mother to continue her art study. She said, "Everyone should have their own dream, so I am very support of Mama......our whole family will send her off to study. The day school starts is our happiest moment, I think I shouldn't miss it. So I am sorry that I will not be able to attend tonight's THE GOLDEN ERA premiere."
