International kung fu superstar Jackie Chan yesterday received a lifetime achievement Oscar, the first Chinese to receive the award and the fourth Asian to receive the honor. Oscar winning Best Actor Tom Hanks compared him to Buster Keaton and John Wayne when introducing Jackie Chan. He even praised Jackie Chan as "Chantastic".

Jackie Chan yesterday appeared in a Chinese kung fu suit like he did in DRUNKEN MASTER 2 (JUI KUEN II). He even brought a pair of panda dolls on the red carpet.

Jackie Chan, film editor Anne Coates, casting director Lynn Stalmaster and documentary producer Frederick Wiseman yesterday all received the lifetime achievement Oscars. Jackie Chan was the fourth Asian to receive this award after Japanese director Akira Kurosawa, Indian director Satyajit Ray and Japanese animation master Hayao Miyazaki.

Jackie Chan's RUSH HOUR co-star Chris Tucker presented the award and congratulated him. When Chris presented the award, he bowed and presented the award to Jackie Chan with both hands respectfully. After Jackie Chan received that award he happily kissed the award and said sentimentally, "After making 200 movies, I have broken a lot of bones. Finally I got this award." Jackie Chan said that 23 years ago he touched the Oscar award for the first time at Sylvester Stallone's home. He then told himself that he wants to win the Oscar once.

On the red carpet, Jackie Chan revealed that he would like to work with the Oscar winning director James Cameron and be in his AVATAR 2.

Superstars from around the world showed the support. Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger who worked with Jackie Chan in a Chinese Russian film, RUSH HOUR director Brett Ratner and Chinese star Michelle Yeoh (Yeung Chi King) congratulated him in person.
