Andy Lau pleads with fans to be a little more quiet
Shu Qi says Andy Lau is more handsome.  Husband Stephen Fung won't be jealous.
courtesy of mingpao.com

Andy Lau Tak Wa earlier in the year fell off a horse during a commercial shoot and was hospitalized for serious injuries. After rest and recovery he officially returned recently. Last night she appeared in Hong Kong with co-star Shu Qi for the Stephen Fung Tak Lun directed THE ADVENTURERS (HUP DOH LUEN MUN) premiere. Dressed in black, Wa Jai was back to form, full of positive energy. Over 500 fans looked on and glad to see their idol appear. They even gave Wa Jai a "Return of the King" welcome, as they would scream with Wa Jai's every move. Wa Jai also got teary eyed from the fans' passion.

Full of smile, Wa Jai often waved to the crowd. Because the fans kept screening, Wa Jai said, "Stop for a second, let the host ask the question. Everyone haven't screamed for a long time. Relax, from today on I will come out everyday. You can scream again." Wa Jai admitted that the fans' passion moved him. Even Shu Qi was moved. Would Wa Jai come out everyday? He said, "It was just talk." What would he like to say to fans? Wa Jai got teary eyed and said, "I want to tell them I am fine, I hope to see everyone. Seeing them I feel much better."

Seeing the Hong Kong audience again, Wa Jai smiled and said, "Actually I have been communicating with everyone online. The doctor was afarid that when I attend public events the fans would be too passionate and hurt me. So the agreement with the company is that I can promote and I can't go out. After the Beijing and Taiwan promotions, everyone has been great to me. When I was promoting in Taiwan, because the doctor didn't permit me to attend the premiere, the fan club fans built a red carpet for me to walk on. They really are very funny, so now I convinced the doctor to let me come out."

Wa Jai recovered faster than expected. He admitted that the doctor of course was more conservative initially. Now he has recovered one or two months faster. His body used to be very agile. Now he is able to handle basic movement, mainly his muscles, bones and body are already over 95% recovered. Only his L5 and L6 spinal columns have cracked and fractured, so his nerves suffered a little damage. He said, "For complete recovery, the soonest would be a year, otherwise two. Because there is no drug to take, I have to wait for it to heal on its own. If it doesn't that it stays like this."

Would he be able to perform extraneous exercises? Wa Jai answered, "I can, but when I movie I feel like I was in bandages. That would affect stunts though, the only impact is I haven't stretched my legs for half a year. I used to be able to spread them but now I can only bend them because I have to be very careful with the injured area. I don't dare to stretch at home. I have to do it on a physical therapist's watch." To speed up his recovery, while at the hospital Wa Jai everyday learned to get on the treadmill. The most important was the stairs training. HE said, "I had to climb 28 floors of stairs before getting home. In order to go home I could only walk like my life depended on it. Everyday I had to walk the full 120 stairs. It really was rather strict."

Wa Jai also was active with his physical therapy for another reason -- he wanted to be able to pick up his daughter as soon as possible. He said, "I still had to wait 4 months before I could hold her!" He kept doing deep lunges and lifting weights. Before going home he even had to learn to use a wheel chair because he was the only men at home. Did her daughter's heart ache when she saw him like that? Wa Jai nodded, "She did, but she was still little!" Did Wa Jai learn anything from this injury? Wa Jai stated, "I did a lot of very scary and difficult stunts without any problems before, this time the horse didn't run either but it seemed to be mad. I got off and left the horse once, but because I still had a little more to shoot I got back on. A lot of things are destined. However this time while I was at the hospital I had nothing to do, so I did a physical examination and discovered some old wounds. I found out that they wouldn't get better. Then I started training my muscles because athletes with similar injuries could continue to run by relying on the muscles." However, Wa Jai said that he did not exercise as much as he used to, he mainly did cardiovascular exercises.

After the accident Wa Jai admitted that he was afraid of horses. He thought about whether to get a double for horse riding scenes then use the computer to put his face in them. Since the injury Wa Jai revealed that actually work was not affected too much. After the commercial he was going to rest before preparing for his concerts. Now his concerts would hopefully start in the Mainland in the second half of next year first and postponed to the year after in Hong Kong as he still wanted to keep the cross year schedule. Has he fully resumed work? He said that for now he still did not have any new assignment or film offer. Would his commercial see the light of day? Wa Jai said that it would not. He would not have any horse scene that would remind everyone. He worked on this commercial once a year, he would wait and see how the next one would be arranged.

Wa Jai described his character as the most handsome thief in his life. Stephen Fung Tak Lun said that he would make Wa Jai as cool as he could be. Wa Jai joked, "I don't know why I am so cool." When he heard fans screamed "handsome", he said, "That's why people say you can work on acting, but you can't work on being handsome." Shu Qi felt that what Wa Jai said was classic.

Shu Qi and Fung Tak Lun appeared in Hong Kong together for the first time after their marriage. When asked if they would appear on screen together next time, Shu Qi said, "There isn't any need to make a commercial, we would try not to be actors together." When asked whether she felt Wa Jai or her husband was more handsome, Shu Qi picked Wa Jai. Fung Tak Lun agreed and would not be jealous.

Two master class singers Alan Tam Wing Lun and Sam Hui Koon Kit two nights ago successfully completed their 12 show SAM AND TAM HAPPY TOGETHER CONCERT. Their extraordinary charm gave their fans all the audio and visual entertainment. Sam and Alan in front of over 10,000 viewers promised a part 2. As for the suggestion of adding George Lam Chi Cheung, Alan immediately came up with the name 3am with his quick wit!

The final show attracted many industry insiders, including Deborah Li, Nat Chan Pak Cheung and Wong Hung Sau, Wayne Lai Yiu Cheung and his wife, Linda Wong Hing Ping, Cally Kwong Mei Wan, Michael Wong Man Tak and his wife Janet Ma Sze Wai. Andy Lau Tak Wa, Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Simon Yam Tat Wa sent videos to cheer them on.

Sam and Alan performed a series of classic hits. Alan told everyone that he wanted to perform Part 2, which hopefully would take place at the end of next year or the Lunar New Year. The audience applauded. Sam invited Lillian Chan Hoi Tung to the stage while Alan dragged Anita Yuen Wing Yi, Jaime Chik Mei Chun and Tsui Ka Bo to the stage. Michael Miu Kiu Wai also got on stage for a selfie. As the three "pretty wives" took turn dancing with their idol. Sam joked, "I can't take it anymore!"

Alan and Sam have been together for awhile. Alan said, "At first when I met Sam, it was very hard to get in touch with him. He was a ninja and rarely came out. After some contact I realized that he was very introverted and bashful, which kept me from saying the wrong thing or trying to be funny. I was afraid of scaring him. After we became familiar actually he was very humorous and a lot of fun. Sam hasn't worked with others so he needed time to work with me. Every night he has improved as our chemistry got better and better. We really have become the best partners." During encore, the audience all stood and sang with them. They also said that they very much looked forward to Prat 2 to play with everyone again. Finally at 11:45PM the concert ended with TOWER IN THE CLOUDS. After the show, Sam and Alan popped champagne backstage to celebrate. Would they perform a Part 2? Alan said, "I do, but the venue would be very hard to book. At least we would need it for two to three weeks." Some suggested that they could perform Part 2, 3, 4? Sam smiled and nodded. As for the suggestion of adding Ah Lam, Alan quickly said, "'3 am' concert, but we belong to different companies. We would have to coordinate. Ah Lam is a friend of mine as well." Alan due to shaking hands with the audience left many wounds on his hands. In addition he injured his elbow on the first show. He said every night he was in so much pain that he could not sleep. Now he prepared pain killers at the venue just in cast. He would recover after a few weeks.

Today is Alan's birthday. He accepted so many lai see that night his hands were numb. He said, "My chest is swelling more and more, but I have to work overseas on my birthday. I won't celebrate. Later Sam and I will perform a world tour. In September I will perform my solo concert. Sam's birthday will be on September 6th. As usual he would go to a steak house for steak. "I can only have it once a year, I have to stay in shape." Alan was stunned then joked, "I have it 6 days a week! He only has it once a year, to me that is incredible!" Alan immediately invited Sam to a famous steak house. Sam agreed, "For him I can break the diet and have roast beef twice a year."

Miu Kiu Wai's son posted a photo with Alan's son online. Alan said, "Young people don't sense threat as much, they never consider any problem of threat. (Do you mind?) Just don't do it again." Sam still has not seen Alan's son. Alan explained that because his son was not in Hong Kong. I definitely would take him to see Uncle Sam whenever he would get a chance.

The Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum) directed, Carina Lau Ka Ling, Simon Yam Tat Wa and Michelle Wai Sze Nga starred FATHER VS. FATHER IN LAW (NGOR DIK CHING DIK NUI SAI) two nights ago shot on location in a Wanchai coffee shop.

25 years after GIGOLO AND WHORE (GAI NGAP LUEN) they worked together again, Brother Wa praised Ka Ling for being well maintained. She proudly said that in the film she had an adopted daughter Wai Sze Nga. In real life she could probably be her mother, but now still many young people admire her. She would not do anything about that because she felt that she was well worth admiring. Did her husband Tony Leung Chiu Wai know? Ka Ling said, "Some things you can't tell, I have to make him feel a little threatened. If younger girls like him, I would be happy for him, congratulate him because he is already at this age!" Brother Wa agreed, "That's why people are jealous of me too. Yesterday a man glared at me on the next block!" Ka Ling asked Brother Wa if he had more younger girls trying to get near him? Brother Wa was actually so nervous that he was sweating. "Only my daughter can get close to me, really no girl can get close to me!" Ka Ling took a tissue and wiped the sweat off Brother Wa as she said, "Tell the truth!" Brother Wa said, "Really only my girl can get close. When I injured my hand she cut the steak for me. My wife fed me soup. It was seriously romantic." Was Wai Jai romantic? Ka Ling said, "He wouldn't, but I can be romantic alone. Have red wine, drink coffee, run, it's pretty romantic for someone to be so carefree!" Brother Wa said that his family of three on vacation was also very romantic. Recently his wife Qi Qi came back from vacation 10 pounds heavier.

Two nights ago Ka Ling and Brother Wa ran into each other again at a won ton noodle stall, but Brother Wa was already stuck between Ka Ling and adopted daughter Wai Sze Nga. They both felt that love had no age limit. Ka Ling said that the French president was like that too, love without age difference would happen.

Director Yip Lim Sum asked Ka Ling to play the final "Ah Bo". She said that she has never watched Director Yip's movies so she first talked with the director. Then she learned about the romantic story behind the movies. Actually if done well they could keep going.

Emperor Motion Picture YUT YUET SING (SUN MOON STAR) is heating up in production. Kathy Yuen (Tong Yi), Daichi Harashima, Lawrence Cheng Tan Shui and Karena Ng Chin Yu earlier worked on location at an old school office supply shop in San Po Kong. Although it was just a simple entering an exiting the store scene, due to the heat the actors were trying to lower their temperature during their breaks with mini fans and paper fans.

Playing a secondary school student, Tong Yi became even younger and cuter in a school uniform. She revealed that Brother Tan in the film was both the office supply store boss and her uncle in the film. This time they worked together for the first time, she felt that Brother Tan was a very sharp, very humorous person. She would properly learn from him.

Tong Yi also admitted that she has not worn a school uniform in years. This time she was reminded of many secondary school memories, especially when she worked with Daichi Harashima. She would be reminded of her past school days. She said, "Because Daichi really likes to play basketball, I used to like to watch boys play ball at school. I was the silent supportive type. In secondary school I had two Puppy Love, but we only held hand once and went out once. Ultimately at that time school came first, so I didn't officially date until I started working."

Was she the type of girls who took the initiative? Tong Yi said, "In school I was very quiet and very meek, I had few opposite sex friends. Although sometimes I would find an excuse to find the guy I liked, I didn't dare to take too much initiative." Because the character required light make up, she said that a studnet could not wear too heavy make up. She said that she would not be unaccustomed to it. She was very confident in light make up, but her co-star this time was a young Daichi Harashima, she still had to work on a skin care everyday. She used facial masks in the morning and at night, she exercised, tried to sleep earlier. She believed that she could still pass. She also said that her boyfriend Ken Hung Cheuk Lap has always seen her school girl look and thought it was decent.

In addition, director Benny Lau Wai Hung directed WONG KA YAN, so this time he asked Ng Chin Yu to be the special guest star so Wong Ka Yan could appear on the screen again. Chin Yu said that she was very happy to play Wong Ka Yan again. Both YUT YUET SING and WONG KA YAN took place in the 90s Hong Kong. The director hoped to have a little continuity, a story that felt like a parallel universe. She said that in the denim over all she felt like she went back to several years ago. The crew said that she did not change at all. She said that she was very happy to work with the director again because she has not worked in Hong Kong in a long time. Earlier she mostly worked in the Mainland, so working in Hong Kong felt particularly familiar.

Reportedly she and boyfriend Raymond Lam Fung were already married overseas. Chin Yu said, "Engaged? No! Absolutely not true." She earlier attended an event and said that both she and Lam Fung were very busy with work, for now they did not have any wedding plan. Work would come first for them.

WOLF WARRIOR 2 is accused of ripping of an internet novel, as it turns out the write of the novel is the screen writer of the film.

Wu Jing wants to focus on his next film and thus has not agreed to promote in Hong Kong
courtesy of mingpao.com

The Wu Jing directed and starred WOLF WARRIOR 2 (JIN LONG 2) exceeded 5.2 billion RMB at the Mainland box office to become the Mainland's highest grossing Chinese film in history; its Hong Kong release was rumored and finally confirmed to be on September 7th. In the past, Wu Jing has come to Hong Kong to make movies and promote many times. However because Wu Jing stated that he hoped to focus on his next film, he has not replied to whether he would promote in Hong Kong.

WOLF WARRIOR 2's Hong Kong rights went to Universe. Boss Daneil Lam Siu Ming was asked if he had any anticipation for its Hong Kong release. He said that the film remained very strong in the Mainland so its Hong Kong release early next month would be expected to follow the trend. As for whether it would break box office record, he said, "We will try our best!" Lam Siu Ming said that he did not invest in this film but he was happy for the bosses who did. Would future films fight to be the next WOLF WARRIOR 2? Lam Siu Ming said that the subject would be very hard to write, Hong Kong screen writers would have no idea how to write it. Wu Jing lived with the military for two years before he was able to depict that sentiment. Thus he felt that Hong Kong audience would accept it as well.

Wu Jing earlier stated in a Xinhua Agency interview, "After today, I don't want to accept another interview because my life needs recharging." Despite the box office record, Wu Jing felt that the various extreme challenges in the film was his greatest wealth. "In terms of action, from above water to below, the shot was done in one take. No one was able to do it but I did; tank drifting battle has never been done in a foreign film. The Chinese did it first, I feel proud." He even stressed that he was no hero, but a filmmaker; he only wanted through the image of the Chinese People's Liberation Army to display a type of sincerity, a type of responsibility and sense of duty that a man should have, the indomitable spirit of the Chinese soldier, and not Wu Jing as a hero who never dies.

He said after his success, everything returned to zero for him. In other words he must start all over. He said, "Every martial artist wants to start an era, to me, my life just started."

Last night was already the final show of Sam Hui Koon Kit and Alan Tam Wing Lun's concert. At the 11th show guests included Margie Tsang Wa Sin, Angie Chiu Nga Chi and Melvin Wong Kam Sun, Teddy Robin Kwan, Benny Chan Ho Man and his wife, Bernice Liu Bik Yi, Jaime Chik Mei Chun, Cheng Tung Hon, and Mr. Sam and the Principal invited Tsang Wa Sin and Liu Bik Yi to the stage. They even said that they were sharper than "Young Fresh Meat"! They joked that they were "Luncheon Meat with Preservatives" and even made a heart gesture with their hands like "Young Fresh Meat" would to present to fans.

Kevin Cheng praises his girlfriend Grace Chan's cooking

The film L STORM (L FUNG BO) yesterday held a production start worship ceremony in Tuen Mun. Boss Raymond Wong Pak Ming, director David Lam Tak Lun, actors Louis Koo Tin Lok, Julian Cheung Chi Lam, Kevin Cheng Ka Wing, Stephy Tang Lai Yan and Toby Chan Ting Yan attended. Goo Jai and his new co-star Ka Wing worked in the heat and were sweating bullets, but when Goo Jai learned that he would have a car chase he already looked forward to it before it was even shot.

In L STORM, Koo Tin Lok and Cheng Ka Wing both played ICAC but Goo Jai was investigated him. Cheung Chi Lam played a cop, after escaping death in the previous installment he got a promotion as he assisted Goo Jai in the investigation.

Ka Wing over a decade ago already worked with Chilam on the series POINT OF NO RETURN, but it was his first collaboration with Goo Jai. Goo Jai joked that he only found out from the shoot that Ka Wing was very sweaty. Yesterday in a sealed building and without air conditioning they shot a scene with three pages of dialogue in suits. Indeed it was very rough. Ka Wing admitted that he was sweating like a waterfall.

In the film all three lead actors have action scenes. Goo Jai joked that ICAC did not have any hand to hand combat, but he would have a car chase that he would personally perform. Goo Jai said, "I don't normally drive, this time I get to drive so I am very happy. I am not worried about the danger because the shoot would take place without road blocks. I will be able to fly as fast as I want!"

Chilam in the film also had gunfight scenes, but he was not afraid of the dangerous because he trusted in the Hong Kong professional team. In addition, Goo Jai even had a brawl with bad guys on a boat. Ka Wing said that he participated as well but he only "helped". Goo Jai's two co-stars praised how well he fought. Was he such a good fighter only after Sammo Hung Kam Bo's special training? Goo Jai only smiled and nodded.

In addition, Chilam this time grew facial hair for the performance. He said that his wife Anita Yuen Wing Yee would not like it more, now she would not permit him to shave. Responsible for attack Chilam at home, his son Demon Child (Morton) continued to make fun of him. Speaking of his 48th birthday on the 15th, Ka Wing revealed that he and girlfriend Grace Chan Hoi Lam dined at home. Ka Wing said, "Of course it was delicious, how can you ask like that? However it really was delicious. She cooked Western dishes and slow cooked a salmon steak."

Fellow August birthday boy Chilam will celebrate his 46th birthday on the 27th. He already booked a vacation but asked friends not to arrange any surprise party, because he would definitely get upset. He would rather they arranged a mahjong match. Was he keeping his wife out? Chilam said, "We will open another table, it would be the best for her to play too!" Did his mahjong friend Aaron Kwok Fu Sing return to Hong Kong yet? Chilam said that he did not know because they were both busy on their own.

Tang Lai Yan in L STORM played a "private shoot" model, but she would not need to be too sexy. In the film she was a little dumb and trusting. She ended up owing money because she tried to have a little too much fun, and accidentally made Koo Tin Lok the target of the police.

Would she and Goo Jai have any romance? Stephy said that in the film they would help each other and thus set off spark, but instead they had some car chases and street running scenes. Stephy dyed her hair for the role. Did she want to look younger for the character? She said that she has dyed her hair many times. Because the director said that the actors would be in dark colored suits, he would like her scenes to have a little more color. However she was playing a cop in another film, so she had to spray her hair dark again before she would perform again.

Stephy recently has been working for the first time with Cheng Ka Wing and his girlfriend Chan Hoi Lam. Did Ka Wing ask her to take care of his girlfriend? Stephy said, "No, he instead asked when Grace would perform!" Although now she was working on both films day and night, Stephy admitted that she was able to handle them physically. Instead she worried that she was no longer young and her skin condition would deteriorate.

In addition, Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum)'s "Ah Bo" character now stars Carina Lau Ka Ling in the finale. Stephy said that Yip Lim Sum mentioned that to her. "This is very special, actually I only play Ah Bo more. You can't say anyone is replacing anyone. Because Ah Bo is not just one character, the feeling is it is a type of spirit, an image of feminine strength. With Lau Ka Ling it would be a great ending!"

Sam Hui Koo Kit and Alan Tam Wing Lun's concert reached the ninth show on Saturday night. Guests included John Tsang Chun Wa, Lawrence Cheng Tan Shui, Kenny Bee (Chung Chun To) and his wife. Because he often held his concerts during the Lunar New Year, giving Lai See at Alan's concerts seems to have become a tradition. Smart fans in order to lure him closer gave lai see to him. Alan was too focused on accepting lai see that he forgot his part of the song. Sam could not do anything about that. During Encore they invited Ah B to the stage to sing two songs LET EVERYTHING GO WITH THE WIND and RED LEAVES FALL WHEN MY HEART IS LONELY. Sam recorded the Japanese version of LET EVERYTHING GO WITH THE WIND previously.

The concert director Siu Chiu Shun said that the trio's performance was the best ten minute of this concert. It was also their first on stage collaboration. "You can say the Enore was the best ten minutes of this show. Three of the strongest singers in the 80s Hong Kong Golden Era, everyone were on the same par. They never had a chance to work together on stage. This time their performance was the happiest ten minutes of my weekend!"
